Welcome to the United State of Rugby!

Rugby Utah is the home to one of America’s top rugby-playing states. Supporting the game from the youth to the elite levels, Rugby Utah’s mission is to Unite, Build and Promote the game locally, nationally and internationally.

Learn more about our programs below…

Rugby Utah (RU) is a USA Rugby-sanctioned Geographic Rugby Organization built to develop the game at the Senior level and to support and aggregate resources for all levels of rugby in the Utah and Intermountain Regions.  RU is led by seasoned rugby, business, finance and sports marketing leaders. The RU entity was founded to elevate and unite the sport of Rugby in Utah as a leadership blueprint for creating a strategy for driving the growth of the sport of Rugby in America.

Working in partnership with USA Rugby and as a purpose-built extension of Utah Youth Rugby (UYR), RU  was organized to become the unifying and authoritative body for all Rugby-related activities and events in Utah. Additionally, RU has been established to develop iconic national and international rugby-related business interests that support the ethos that rugby embodies: integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline and respect.

High Performance

With some of the nation’s top high school and university rugby programs Rugby Utah has some of the top rugby talent. Coupled with a multi-generational and cultural rugby community some of the best players in American are produced within the state of Utah.

Supporting this development of rugby athletes is the USA Rugby-sanctioned Olympic Development Academy, the Men’s Elite Division, elite rugby event hosting and more programs currently in the planning phase.

The purpose of the Rugby Utah High Performance Unit is to also develop more high level coaches that can continue to build and develop the athletes to play in future Olympics and Rugby World Cups.

Rugby doesn’t end after you graduate high school or college like some sports. In fact, a rugby player only graduates from one phase of his or her rugby career to other opportunities, whether they be high performance-centric or social.

In the latter scenario there are many ways a person can stay involved in the game on and off the pitch.

Rugby Utah’s encompassing social and community initiatives include the country’s first USA Touch-sanctioned recreational Touch Rugby League, A 2nd Try–a community development non-profit through game of rugby and the Rugby Business Network, the world’s largest rugby-centric business networking and support organization.

Elite level rugby can’t exist without elite level referees. As such, Rugby Utah has led a reformation of the local referee association.

With increased training opportunities for new and rising referees, paired with technological advances to support the administration of the referee association, Rugby Utah is looking to build the next generation of top-panel referees in the United State of Rugby.
